Alkene and arene, to be reduced or retained? That's the question.

The herein answer for this question is different from conventional ones. By using energy transfer (EnT) catalysis enabled hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) protocol, benzenoid ring of the quinoline is more easily reduced than an electron-deficient alkene. Furthermore, many reducing labile moieties such as aryl iodide, electron-deficient alkyne, benzsulfamide, benzyl ether and othersare compatible with this method.

Congratulations to De-Hai and the entire team on this achievement!

Many thanks for the great collabration by Shuming Chen's group!
